Community Accountancy

The Colchester CVS Community Accounts Project offers a range of financial services to provide support and advice to the voluntary sector.

Our aim is to provide services which make a positive impact on the organisation.  This should improve financial reporting, time effectiveness, staff knowledge and morale.

Payroll service (available to affiliated members only)
You supply the information on employees rate and hours and we supply the payslips and reports; ensuring that all Inland Revenue regulations have been followed.  We complete all necessary forms and even file the Year forms online and you receive a monetary initiative from the Inland Revenue.

If you would like to learn more about the range of services that we can provide and view a list of charges, click here

Training
We organise and run regular training courses to local voluntary organisations.  These cover a variety of financial issues from basic book-keeping to producing budgets and cash flow forecasts.

All local voluntary and community organisations can access this training (although affiliates can benefit from reduced rates).  To see upcoming dates or to book your place, click here

Independent Examinations (available to affiliated members only)
Our staff have extensive knowledge of charity accounts and funding, and the legal requirements of Statement Of Recommended Practise (SORP).  They can examine your prepared figures, or examine and produce the full accounts with notes if required.  Accounts can be prepared in whatever format is appropriate to the organisation.

We can also analyse your financial systems to check that they are working correctly and offer advice on how to improve them if they require changing.

If you would like to take advantage of either examination process, you can find further information and contact details by clicking here

Book-keeping services (available to affiliated members only)
Are your book-keeping systems as efficient and detailed as they should be, so that you can extract all the information that you need. Whether you need help with implementing a new system, moving to a computerised system or help with fully maintaining your organisations accounts, our qualified and competent staff are able to support and work with you.  We can also offer one to one help with individual accounting problems.

Newsletter (available to affiliated members only)
In order to keep our members informed of important changes to financial and employment legislation, we regularly distribute a newsletter.  The information may relate to budget changes or increases to the minimum wage, maternity and paternity or tax issues.  Members can also access past newsletters online, once they have logged in to this site, by clicking here
