Community TransportColchester Transport and Shopmobility is a non-profit making project providing car and minibus transport to people within the community who have difficulty using public transport. If you are disabled, elderly or perhaps a carer with transport problems we are here to help. All of our drivers are aware of the special problems encountered by elderly and disabled people when travelling. Our transport: - Can be used by people with a permanent or temporary disability
- Is safe and affordable
- Provides a door-to-door service
- Is available to anyone living in the Colchester Borough Council area
- Operates Monday - Friday 9.00 am - 4.00 pm
- Must be booked in advance
The Scheme can be used for visiting a friend or relative in hospital, dentist or optician appointments, shopping or just to enjoy the leisure and social facilities in the community. Transport is by mini-bus or car. Mini-bus Service
We have two fully accessible minibuses, adapted with grab handles and tail-lifts that can be used to take people who need to travel in their wheelchairs. They travel to the outlying villages to bring the elderly and disabled into the town centre. They also help to transport members to Luncheon Clubs and Day Centre facilities in the town. Charges & Contributions: From £2.20 per single journey, up to three miles and thereafter 50p per mile. | One of our minibuses |
