Services & ResourcesWe offer many services to the local community sector. These range from infrastructure support to networking events and information services to equipment hire. Affiliated organisations can benefit from reduced prices or exclusive access to particular resources. Core Services Community Accounts Project (some services available to affiliated member organisations only) - our finance department offers payroll and book-keeping services, training and act as independent examiners for organisations accounts. They issue a regular financial newsletter, back copies of which are available to view online To meet the team and review these services in more detail, click here Funding Information - Funding is one of the most important and most difficult areas for voluntary and community organisations to deal with. In order to help local groups and make information available to them, Colchester CVS has a range of services linked to funding. At its heart is the Resource facility (to view pictures of the room and charges, click here). This is a designated space within our main office at Winsley's House that holds a library of useful texts and a computer with access to directories of funders, including funderfinder and GRANTfinder. Books are available for loan free of charge. Funding news, such as guidelines for particular funding programmes and notice of upcoming deadlines, is also distributed through our information services (details of which can be found below). Community Information Database - Whether you are looking for the contact details of a particular voluntary organisation, trying to find a support group or identify activities which may help you or a friend, our Community Information Database might be able to help. With over 400 records, the database lists useful local contacts. Submit your enquiries to the main office by phone or e-mail and we will search the database for you to try and find you the support that you need or the answer to your question. News and Information
Monthly Newslink (available to affiliated member organisations only) - Full of local and national information, our newsletter keeps organisations up to date with developments within the Third Sector, advertises local events, provides details about funding streams and useful publications. From April 2007, all newsletters have been archived online for our members to access via the news section of this website. Selected articles can be viewed by any organisation through our news pages (click here for further details). Financial Newsletter (available to affiliated member organisations only) - Like our newslink, the regular financial newsletter keeps members informed about matters, including topics such as minimum wage, paternity and maternity, and budget changes. Past copies of the newsletter can be accessed online in our Community Accounts section by clicking here E-mail Newsflashes (available to affiliated member organisations only) - To supplement our newsletter and keep pace with reports, we distribute a weekly e-mail newsflash. This also allows us to inform members of any breaking news or late changes to events. Online News Service - News stories, taken from our newslink and e-mail newsflashes, are collated online and made accessible for all who wish to view them. Training - Our experienced staff and trainers provide a programme of training courses throughout the year that can cover a number of different topics, including Writing Funding Applications, Roles and Responsibilities of Trustees, and Outcomes. The dates and costs of these courses, as well as links to other local and national training bodies can be accessed by clicking here Surgeries - Throughout the year, Colchester CVS organises a series of surgeries, where voluntary organisations can drop in and discuss issues one-to-one with professionals from areas such as Funding and Finance. Community Forums - This is an opportunity for members of different voluntary organisations to interact and for speakers to address relevant topics. Volunteers Lunch - National Volunteers Week is an annual event running between 1st and 7th June. To coincide with this Colchester CVS organises a Volunteers Lunch in celebration of the commitment of Colchester's army of volunteers. AGM and Conference - Every year Colchester CVS organises a conference to coincide with our AGM. This brings together local groups and provides a platform for keynote speakers to address important issues. In the past speakers have come from national organisations, including the Charity Commission and NCVO. Last year the conference focused on funding, with presentations from NCVO's Sustainable Funding Project and NAVCA. Room Hire
Meeting Room - Our comfortable meeting room is available to hire between Monday and Friday from 9 am-4 pm. It can easily accommodate 15 people and has disabled access. Groups can also utilise a range of services/facilities to assist their meeting, such as administrative support.
